Why we chose Avalanche
Every chain markets itself the same way now. Fast, cheap, scalable, growing ecosystem. Read ten landing pages and you learn nothing, because the claims are identical and none of them survive contact with a real product.
So we evaluated chains the way a trader evaluates a venue: what does it cost to be wrong, and how fast can you correct it?
Finality is the whole game
Avalanche confirms transactions in roughly one second via Snowman consensus. For a lending or trading product that number is not a vanity metric. Every second between submission and confirmation is a second where prices can move against you, where a liquidation can slip, where an oracle update arrives stale. On slower chains you design the product around that latency. On Avalanche you mostly don't.
Fees low enough to compound
Etna shipped ACP-125, which cut the C-Chain minimum base fee from 25 nAVAX to 1 nAVAX. That sounds like a footnote until you do the math on what a vault does all day: harvest, swap, redeposit, rebalance. Strategies that only work when each transaction costs fractions of a cent die quietly on chains where they cost thirty.
L1s are real now
Avalanche9000 turned Subnets into sovereign L1s in December 2024. Validators pay a small continuous fee (around 1.3 AVAX a month) instead of staking 2,000 AVAX, and they only sync the P-Chain, not the whole Primary Network. Purpose-built chains went from a six-figure infrastructure decision to a tooling decision. Dexalot already runs its order book on one. When we eventually need a settlement layer tuned to our own rules, the option is sitting there.
The actual reason: ICM and ICTT
Here is the part most people skip. Avalanche's answer to liquidity being scattered across chains is not a bridge, it is a protocol. Interchain Messaging lets chains communicate with signatures verified on-chain against the P-Chain validator registry. Interchain Token Transfer moves assets between L1s by locking them in a home contract and minting representations remotely. No multisig committee holding funds, no custodian to trust.
'Global liquidity across all markets' is a literal claim on Avalanche, because the plumbing for liquidity to move between markets already exists. On most chains that would be marketing copy. Here it is a build target.
One honest note to close: Solana still has the best application layer in crypto. Jupiter proved aggregation wins, and Kamino proved a single surface can own lend, borrow, and yield. Avalanche has the deeper liquidity plumbing and nobody has glued it together. That gap is the company.
